And what a week it has been! On the writing front the start of the week I was struggling, hard. I was trudging through my second week slump, forcing myself to write, one day I had written only 400 words. That's it! I didn't even make word count. Then the most amazing thing happened...I found my motivation. I found that part of me that said write! Who cares if it fits into the plot, let your characters dow what they want. I found this motivation as I was pushing others to just write, new-bes who were concerned about being behind on word count, and I told them just write. That is the point. That's when I realized it, so I moved on, I let the characters tell me what they wanted, I jotted down a few notes and went back to the keyboard to work.
And work I did: As it sits right now, I'm at 34,186 words, partly thanks to my 7,638 word day today. At this time last year I was finished, this year I'm not, but I will still finish this novel by the 1st of December, and then after that, I don't know what will happen to it. I will probably file it away for a little bit, let it stew and stir before I tear it to shreds. I have other projects that are demanding attention right now and I really want to submit this year.
Speaking of submitting this year, you know how I'm always saying that this year will be the year? Yeah well....no I'm not published yet, but I landed a spot in the publishing business. I'm now an intern executive assistant, thing, if you would (no I don't know my exact title, you can stop laughing now...), at an independent publishing house. WWC has given me a fantastic opportunity to learn the ins and out of the publishing industries. So keep your eyes peeled for updates about that now as well, I'm sure it'll prove to be an exciting journey.
